...with a speedometer app on the golf cart. Previously, feathering the gas I got 12 mph and a top speed of 18 mph when the engine/clutch were having hiccups. It still is, but the top speed been broken!
With my mom driving, me in the back, and the wife and kid up front; I told my mom to gun it. The low was the same but the highest speed recorded was 28 mph! But the highest consistent speed was 27 mpg, which is pretty good I think! Having different linkage to open the throttle and no governor has really helped! :D
Now, if I could just get the clutch to work 100% all the time, it would be spectacular then!

Unfortunately the brakes and gas can’t be used at the same time...donuts on the other hand, are a possibility, :).

Hold on a sec, how can I get my hands on a golf cart. But not for the price of a decent car. I’m a caddie at a country club and driving the carts from the caddyshack to the clubhouse is the most fun part of my job. They’re also probable one of the only reasons I golf. I want my own to play with and name and be my pet. But they’re so freaking expensive!

I’m pretty sure MrsZtp would ‘love’ that. Every time we get off she says “ oh I hate that smell”. Which makes me want to drive it more, :).

I got mine for free. It’s an older model, a 1990 Ezgo Marathon 2-cyl gas. From the way my grandparents talked, it’s on its last leg. But I got mine through special circumstances; namely the seller knew I was interested but I couldnt afford the price of $500, so I passed. Months later it died, and they gave it to my gpa to fix up, so it would be a present for my family. Like I said, special circumstances.
Anyways, carts ARE expensive, new at least. A 2 seater starts off at $5k, a 4-seater is about $7k and upwards. The best market to get one is used. CL is a possible place, but most of the carts there are lifted, which I dislike because it ruins the center of gravity (possibility of tipping over). Another great place would be the side of the road. Lastly, specialty storess. About an hour from me is a golf cart store. They have no website except a FB account, which they use for selling 4-seater carts at a decent price of $3k-ish. You really have to look and ask around.
Also, if you didn’t know, cart maintainence can add up. A electric cart’s battery can cost upwards of $100, and theres at least 6 of them. With gas I heard its a good idea to rebuilt the engine every few years. My clutch costs $400 new, which I may need in a few years. It adds up quickly.
But it’s a lot of fun to drive. The cart takes the place of the rwd convertible car I may never get.
You’re not in Michigan, are you?

I’m in Minnesota. We have a cabin in the U.P. though. I would like a gas powered one. We have a friend up in Duluth that had a bunch of old airport machinery, I have no idea why, but it’s awesome. I want an old airport cart or something. But for sure with the gas engine so it’s easier to tinker with myself

Hmm, It might be harder to find stuff up there, I do know it's scarce up there. The place I found was in Fenton, south of flint.
